Hello,

The sad thing is that with 3 days before the deadline wxWidgets did not receive one single proposal on GSoC website. IMHO it is too late even today, because there is no time to review a potential draft, and guide a student towards a final proposal. Signs were there, in the lack of patches and initial contributions from the ones who briefly asked about some projects, it's just difficult to acknowledge.
Of course, writing this will not help with anything. I just felt like expressing my disappointment.

Regards,
C

True, those last minute submissions (and the majority of submissions
usually are submitted on the very last day if I recall correctly)
don't have as much of a chance as the early (and clearly interested)
submissions. Maybe the student registration and submission process is
also just significantly more strict (hopefully better at filtering out
spam submissions) than it was the last time we were in the program in
2014. I'm certain it's changed quite a bit.

I seem to recall that mentors are able to continue holding
conversations with students on their proposals right up until May 4th
though, just for whatever that's worth. I definitely recall mass
submissions on the very last possible day to submit though, that's
common. So don't get all your hopes up yet.
